The Nexus 6's camera will be better

The Moto X (2014), the phone after which the Nexus 6 was modelled, is a great phone, but sadly this doesn’t include the camera, after we saw in our camera comparison against the Moto G (2014) where the latter was actually better. Because of this, a lot of people were worried that the Nexus 6 would also be plagued with such a lacklustre camera. Well apparently this is wrong.

The camera really is the Moto X (2014)’s Achilles' heel, but the Nexus 6 was apparently built with a different camera sensor which will take better pictures particularly in situations with poor lighting conditions. The Moto X (2014) has Sony’s older camera sensor, IMX135, while the Nexus 6 was granted a much newer one, the IMX214. What’s more, the Nexus 6 comes with an optical image stabilizer (OIS) and f/2.0 aperture, which should provide for much better contrast in comparison to smaller apertures.

For the time being, we don’t have any test pictures so the technical details will have to suffice for now. But this information shouldn’t be taken too lightly either: the Nexus 6 could be the first Nexus smartphone with a good camera.
